Sister Katie Robinson was born on August 23, 1925 in Augusta, Georgia and departed this life on Sunday morning, February 7, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Gus and Jenny Briggs.

“Kate,” as she was affectionately called by family and friends, attended the A. R. Johnson High School in Augusta, Georgia. At an early age she accepted Christ as her personal Savior under the pastorship of the Reverend Westbrook. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 27.

Katie was married to the late Jackie L. Robinson. After settling in Chester, Pennsylvania in 1944, she became a member of Temple Baptist Church where she served on the Senior Usher Board until her legs and feet became a problem in standing. Katie was a wonderful and caring person and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Katie had been retired from Teledyne Wertz Company for twenty years. She was a quiet person but did enjoy company. She and her sister, Lillian Abrams, who lived in Philadelphia, often visited each other for a week or more, and these visits were good times for her. She and her brother, William Briggs, affectionately called “Brother,” were like “two peas in a pod.” They were very attentive to each other.

Pre-deceased by mother, father, and sister, Katie leaves to cherish her memory a brother, William Briggs (Mil), nephews: Dr. Cordell Briggs (Stephanie), Riverside, California; Larry Jones (Deborah), Columbus, Georgia; nieces: Valda Simpkins (James), Augusta, Georgia; Val DeJarnette (Harold), Wilmington, Delaware; and many other nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of friends.
