Margie E. Shivers was born on January 25, 1932 to the late Annie Boston and the late Frank Jackson in Washington, DC. She departed this life on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Fair Acres Geriatric Center in Middletown, PA.

Margie was raised from early childhood by her aunt the late Louise Jackson-Henson. Her husband, the late Manard Shivers, Sr., preceded her in death in December of 1968.

At the tender age of twelve she confessed Christ on the third Sunday in July 1944 and was baptized by the late Rev. George B. Linton at the Mount Olive Baptist Church. Margie served as president of the Sr. Choir, Sr. Usher Board and Pastor's Aide and Vice President of the Deaconess Board. While at Mt. Olive she became licensed as an evangelist and a gospel singer. When asked why she worked so hard, her reply was "It's in my heart".
In addition she sang with the Rose Buds Gospel Singers and served as President. She also sang with the Ross Carroll Gospel Chorus and traveled with the Mt. Hebron Male Chorus as their guest soloist.

Margie leaves to mourn a son, Manard Shivers, Jr., a daughter in law Ulrike, one daughter Marlyn Nelson, seven grandchildren, Pamela Shivers, Linette Shivers, Juliette Shivers, Samantha L. Peters and Timothy C. Peters, Mihanna Nelson, and Minia Nelson Bell; a devoted niece Marian Duncan, cousins Della Williams of Las Vegas, NV, and Catherine Barber of Chester and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by five sisters and one brother.
