Minnie Virginia Wesley Tildon was born in Chester, Pennsylvania on May 1, 1911 to George Washington Wesley and Mary Elmira Rochester Wesley. Upon the death of her mother Mary, brother Joseph, and sister Mary, Minnie left Mary Dell, Delaware in 1924 to reside with her cousin the late Dr. Padgett.

Minnie graduated from Chester High in 1929. As a day student, Minnie commuted daily to the then West Chester Day School via the Short Line Pub¬lic Transportation System. Minnie's teaching career began in Chester Town¬ship in 1932 after her graduation. She transferred to the Chester Upland School District retiring in 1978. Minnie was the consummate educator, pri¬marily as a first grade teacher and later as a reading specialist at Booker T. Washington Elementary School.

Minnie became a certified teacher, later attending Temple University for her masters degree. Minnie was a "The World Book Encyclopedia" field educational division sales specialist. Minnie loved to travel; she had been around the world at least twice. Her passion was education, reading, and learning period. She told her student's "you may not have enough money to see the world, but you can experience foreign worlds by reading about them."

Minnie's love was her king, William "Willy" Edward Tildon, Sr., whom she married in New York City, New York in 1933. Their union produced prince William "Billy" Tildon, Jr. Willy and Billy preceded her in death in 1977 and 2001 respectively. Ask Minnie about her granddaughter Dani, her pride and joy; she was never at a loss for happiness.
Minnie was a faithful Christian servant. A member of Saint Daniel's United Methodist Church, she belonged to Class #10 and served as treasurer. Minnie was a fund-raising expert; she sold all occasion greeting cards, and brick-a-brack. Lest we forget her love of the telephone, few escaped Minnie's wee hour calls. Minnie loved to sing and play piano. On her final living days with us she sang her version of the "Amen Chorus." Her life revolved around her church family. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Se¬nior Choir, Mass Choir, Project Networking After-School Program tutor, Dis¬ciple Bible Study, Senior Ministry Feeding Program, and Aid Guild.

Minnie was on the second pledge line of Phi Delta Kappa Sorority Xi Chapter and a lifetime NAACP Chester Chapter Member. Minnie's favorite color was green and she loved frozen custard, especially from Atlantic City, New Jersey. Minnie's declining health forced her into Chestnut Ridge in Chester, Pennsylvania and Sunrise, Padi Assisted Living Care facilities. Upon her death she returned to Chester to reside with her daughter-in-law, Angela and her grandson Kyne.

Minnie's loving memory is carried by her granddaughter, Danielle Leigh Tildon of New York City, New York; grandsons, F. Jamey Mixson and wife Tracie of S. Euclid, Ohio and Kyrie J. Mixson of Chester; four granddaugh¬ters and one great-great-grandson; her caregiver and daughter-in-law, Angela T. Bobo Tildon of Chester, and many cousins and friends.
