Cheryl M. Kane was born from the union of the late Mary Ellen Hurling and Robert Merryweather and was reared by the late Helen and William Kane. She was born in Darby Township and lived in Chester, Pennsylvania for several years before moving to Philadelphia, where she joined in union with James Northington, Jr.
Cheryl was educated in the Darby Township School District. She attended and graduated from Upper Darby High School. She was employed as a kindergarten teach at Anderson Elementary School for several years. Cheryl had several hobbies. She enjoyed playing cards, ordering from QVC and collecting stuffed bears. One of her greatest enjoyments was playing Ms. P-A-C M-A-N and spending the holidays with her family.
Cheryl was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness for eighteen years. She had accepted the Lord as her personal savior. On May 12, 2009 God called Cheryl home from labor to reward.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Michael and Gregory Kane; three daughters, Michelle Townsend, Andrea Womack and Angela Kane; sixteen grandchildren, Kanisha, Sherita, Katrina, Keyonna, La-Keysha, LaMonna, Selina, Kyiesha, Tasha, Sherona, Anyah, Catherine, Andre, Mika, and La-Kiera, and one great-grandchild, Miejah. She also leaves to cherish her memory seven sisters, Marjorie, Jeanette, Maria, Felicia, Sherry and Cynthia; four brothers, Steven, Jose, Morris and Eric; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Cheryl was preceded in death by one grandson, Kevin West, Jr. and a special friend Gregory Jones.
