Wilma G. Simpson was born to the late James Gettings and Sarah Thomas Gettings in Birmingham, Alabama on February 29, 1916. She went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 9, 2009. She spent most of her life in the Chester area after moving from Wilmington, Delaware.

Mrs. Simpson was a faithful member of the St. Daniel's United Methodist Church in Chester. She was a past president of the United Methodist Women and also served as secretary with the Methodist Women at the District level. She attended church services up until she was physically unable to come out. Mom Simpson praised her God and was never ashamed to lift her hands in praise and her voice in song.

She was also Past Matron of Leah Chapter #27 Order of the Eastern Star(PHA) and Past Loyal Ruler of Chester Assembly #30, Order of the Golden Circle.

Mom Simpson as she was affectionately called by those who knew and loved her was a family person. She loved her children, grandchidlren and great grandchildren and was very proud of having five generations who often worshipped with her at church.

She was predeceased by her husband Charles "Bus" Simpson who died in 1982, her son Charles Simpson, Jr and 3 sisters.

Mrs. Simpson leaves to cherish her wonderful memory her children, Mildred Simpson, Jean S. Wade, Florence Burton (Frank), William Simpson (Sandra), and John Simpson (Rita). Also survived by one brother James Gettings, 2 sisters Joan Jordan, and Eugenia DeJarnette, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, a special son Rev. Alfred S. Maloney and a host of other relatives and friends.
