Ernestine Palmer Anthony, the third daughter of Carrie P. Mazyck Anderson and William Yeadon, was born May 30, 1930 in Crosse, South Carolina, she departed this life on Sunday , January 18, 2009 at the Wilmington Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware.
Tina, as she was lovingly called, moved from South Carolina in her teens and relocated to Chester, Pennsylvania where she graduated from Chester High School. While at Chester High School she met and married her high school sweetheart, Charles Anthony Sr., and from this union was born two sons, Charles Anthony Jr., and Bruce Erin Anthony.
Ernestine worked for a short time at Strath Haven Inn in Swarthmore, PA. She then began her career as school secretary for the Chester Upland School District, working at Booker T. Washington and Columbus Elementary school until her retirement in 1980.
Tina loved sports, especially basketball and football. She loved to watch the players run up and down the courts and fields. Her favorite entertainers were Ray Charles, are her sons Chucky and Ricky who are both very talented musicians
Ernestine was a long time member of St. Daniels United Methodist Church and served briefly on the Senior Usher Board.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband Charles Anthony Sr., her sisters Fannie Mazyck Sallard and Robertsine Harper, a favorite nephew David S. Harper Sr., and a close and dear friend Stephen Ewing.
Ernestine leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Charles Anthony Sr., of Stockholm, Sweden, Bruce Anthony of Wilmington, Delaware, one granddaughter Miranda DinetzAnthony of Stockholm, Sweden, devoted niece Patricia S.
Newsome (Walter) of Wilmington and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
