Jerome "Sonny" Powell was born to the late Mary Jackson Powell and Alfred Powell on March 28, 1926. He went home to be with the Lord on September 2, 2008.
He was born in Garde City, PA and reared and educated in Chester, PA.
Mr. powell served in the US Navy and was latger employed by C.A. Power Tire Company until his retirement in the 1970's.
He married Dorothy Lee Tull and to this union there were seven children. They also raised a speial niece Elinore Durnell.
Mr. Powell especially enjoyed sitting on his porch doing cross word puzzles, watcging western movies and attending church services at Friendship UAME Church in Chester.
Sonny leaves to cherish his memory his children Ethel Harding, Sharon Bishop, Gracie Scarboro, Stephen Powell, Nathaniel Powell, Kevin Powell, Jerome Powell and Lawrence Armfield, one sister Alfreda Webb, 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren many of whom he reared. Also survived by daughter in law Rene Powell, and sons in law Anthony Bishop and Hassan Scarboro, sisters in law Elsie Tull and Rosetta Warrington and a host of other relatives and friends.
