Joseph "Joe" Jennings was born to the late George Jennings and Lillie Freeman Jennings in Lynchburg, Virginia on January 10, 1938. He departed this life at his home on August 10, 2008.
He was educated in the Campbell County School District and later attended the Chester Public Schools in Pennsylania.
Joe later joined the air Force where he received his High School Diploma.
Mr. Jennings was an avid song writer and singer. He not only composed songs for himself but for many others as well. He was the founder of The White Rose Gospel Singers, The Jennings Gospel Singers, and Grace and Truth Delagation under the direction of the late Harry Woodhouse.
He later started the Community Outreach Choir and also sang with the Christian Choral Ensemble under the direction of Joyce Cottman. He was a member of Temple Baptist church where he sang with the Temple Starlights and the Sanctuary Choir until his health failled.
He had many other interest to include fishing, hunting and he was very good with a bow and arrow.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Tarry Burton Jennings, children Joe Jennings, Jr., Justin Burton, Jabar Jennings, Timothy Fontaine, Jr.(Zenobia), Andre Fontaine, Joanne White (Virgil), Jodi Jennings, and Ledesha Jennings, siblings James W. Jennings (Diane), Bertha Irvin, Ernestine Porter(Jerome)Janie LeGrande, Ethel Fryer (Lawrence), Sylvia Hicks (Verdell); also survived by 25 grandchildren, six geat grandchildren, a special niece Patricia Hollis and one special Goddaughter Lisa Jones, and a host of other relatives and friends.
